The Art of Disappointment & Loss: Building Resiliency

  • Aldersgate UMC 4243 Manuela Ave Palo Alto, CA, 94306 United States (map)

The culture of our day inundates our young people with “words of encouragement”, “strategies for success”, and “paths for achievement” but in this culture, we rarely prepare them for feelings of disappointment and loss. This workshop, The Art of Disappointment and Loss, will address these feelings in a creative, constructive, and artistic way. Through a combination of intros, mixers, free-writing, arts-based exercises, and discussions, we'll explore ways to cultivate emotional strength and resiliency in the face of loss, disappointment, and life transitions.

Brynn Saito is the Director of the Center for Spiritual Life at Aldersgate UMC. She is a poet, writer, and professor, with extensive experience facilitating workshops on writing, creativity, and healing. More on Brynn and her work at:
